Who (or what) do you consider to be your first love?

View 500 Answers

Reading. It has made my imagination very happy. My world would be less vibrant if not for my love of books and text.

You finally have an excuse to use it—what userpic do you not get to use very often but can't delete because it's just that awesome?

There's always room for Spike but Vince Vaughn circa Hotness? I don't get a lot of opportunities to use it but I love him.

Do you prefer texting or talking on the phone?

View 502 Answers

Unless I really, really like you (and I can count those people on one hand with a possible finger or two left over), I don't like the phone. It just reeks of awkwardness. I'd much prefer texting. Or e-mailing. Texting in itself is annoying and I can't text as fast as I type. Beh.

What quality do you think is most important in a significant other?

View 501 Answers

The most important quality? *ponders* Empathic honesty. I appreciate a partner who doesn't hesitate to call me on my shit and is straight-forward in their life and how they interact with others. I appreciate a partner even more, if they can do that without being intentionally cruel.

I've dealt with enough deception in life. so I feel fortunate to be marrying someone who lays it all out there..even if it's not always pretty.

Oh..a sense of humor and dorkiness is lovely as well. :D

Describe your morning routine.

Ah..the morning routine. I will describe the weekday plan as I'm barely awake for much of the weekend morning:

Morning routines are highly over-rated.. )

The rest of the morning generally involves discharging patients, engaging with them and all of that feel-good jazz.

What's the story behind your username?

View 503 Answers

This username is old. I've used it for at least ten years. It was sorta a joke between some online friends. I felt like I've been so lucky in life because I've had a barrage of mafia-style angels looking out for me. They've quickly handled any issues in my life that were causing a ruckus.

Eventually, having mafia angels became being one. It seemed like a great idea at the age of 13 and I've used this name for so long that I can't imagine having anything else. :)

What fictional high school—from tv, film, or a book—would you most like to attend? Or would you rather never go near high school again, fictional or otherwise?

View 502 Answers

It's been said already, but Sunnydale High. I'd love to be a Scoobie and not just be junk food for Spike. ;)

High school wasn't the OMGamazingness!! for me like some people. But it doesn't cause me to be suicidal. I wouldn't mind re-doing some things but I wouldn't want to re-live it. College on the other hand...I miss.

What is your first reaction when someone says "I need to talk to you"?

View 505 Answers

First instinct is panic. I'm wondering what could possibly be wrong. People rarely say that with a happy tone.

However, since I work in a hospital, I do hear the above a lot. While in Social Work-mode, if someone says that, I'm thinking discharge planning, psychosocial needs, all that warm fuzzy stuff. And then I prepare for a headache. ;)

“So instead of going to sleep like a normal person and getting ready for work next day. I got bored so I decided to see how voice post on my journal works. Steve's at work right now. Actually, he's off from work and should be home sometime soon. So I'm just kinda twiddling my thumbs until he gets here. I could be putting up the laundry or doing something productive like actually taking down my Christmas tree but I prefer to read Spike/Buffy fan fiction and stay on line till I can barely keep my eyes open and then be sleepy tomorrow for work cos I think that's a great plan. I am hoping that my Monday won't be too bad and I am interested in playing around with this some more and this is pretty cool. I don't really have any thing more fundamental or amazing or any thing more profound to say but I will end this by wishing everybody a good night and that's it! Bye.”

The eternal breakfast dilemma: Sweet or savory?

View 500 Answers

If you don't need to be productive, savory. I've gone that way since getting older. I think of cereal as making a great snack, but an omelette? *Homer drool*

And guess which one I have to eat? *goes off to munch on Cocoa Puffs*

Writer's Block: On the Bus

Jam a bunch of people together in a tight space like a bus or the subway and something crazy is bound to happen. What's the most memorable thing you've seen on mass transit?

View 500 Answers

I'm from Chicago. So I know mass transit. Hell, both my father and maternal grandfather put over 50 years of their life into the Chicago Transit Authority.

As such, I've seen it all on the subway and bus. Make out sessions, religious services, traveling retail shops, and donation pleas.

My memorable thing I've seen? Not very exciting but I always got a kick of people selling shoelaces and phone cords. How many people honestly need those two items during their commute?

I've also seen my fair share of fist fights on the bus. My favorite involved a hair extension being left behind.

I have a fond memory of an ex-convict asking me out for a date. He promised to call after the next full moon.

Ah Chicago..how I miss thee.

What is the one question you've always wanted someone to ask you?

View 501 Answers

I cheated and read some other really great answers.

The best question to ask me...   "What makes you...you?"

I'm a terribly introspective person. I love to self-analyze and reflect. I could potentially write a nice epic poem about what quirks consists of me. Of course, the person who asked this question, would probably regret the verbal flood that would follow. So I'd hope the person who poses this question in actually interested in the answer.

As the old saying goes, one person's trash is another person's treasure. What's the best thing—chairs, roller skates, old electronics—you've ever found that someone else had thrown away?

Growing up, my cousins and I found a game for a Super Nintendo. Seriously, it was money. I can't remember the title and the game was probably stolen, but happy we were.

When times are tough or you're feeling down, what's the one food you can count on to make you feel better?

View 504 Answers

How appropriate to answer this before I scarf down some hot dogs.

I'm a potato and chocolate kinda girl. I prefer that not to be together.

When I was seriously depressed last summer, my go-to meal was corn dogs. Add some kettle chips and black cherry pop and there was my Prozac. And about 50 pounds..but that's another story. ;)

Many people believe that what you do on New Year's Day sets the tone for your entire year. How did you spend the first day of 2009? Do you think it will influence the rest of the year?

View 500 Answers

My first day of 2009 was spent working. I'm a medical social worker at a community non-profit hospital. I'm kept pretty busy but I dig the pace. I feel it sets the tone for the year by showing that I like to live out my passion. I love what I do. The rest of day was spent napping and relaxing, so I don't know what that says about me. Heh. I had more profound thoughts, but I'm somewhat busy coughing up my spleen right now.

It's the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere, summer solstice in the Southern hemisphere, and Haiku Day in the U.S. Does that inspire you to write a three-line poem with five syllables in the first and last lines and seven in the middle line?

Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, you've probably experienced something that you couldn't explain. What was it?

So here's my quirk. I have very detailed dreams. I can read, taste, smell and feel in my dreams. I feel it's both a blessing and a curse.

Dreams about my father.. )

I feel honored to have these connections and I don't want to lose them.
